Camp, School, and Sports Physicals

Camp, School, and Sports Physicals

At Vital Urgent Care, you can simply walk in and receive your sports physicals without an appointment. Whether your child is preparing for sports, school, or camp, a physical examination is the crucial first step in ensuring their health and readiness for any activity.

The cost of sports physicals ranges from $40 to $50, depending on the location of your urgent care center. For precise pricing information, please contact your local center.

So why should you get a sports physical? With over 46 million kids participating in sports each year, it's essential to ensure that your athlete is in good condition to play. Surprisingly, 62 percent of all sports-related injuries occur during practices rather than games, with football, basketball, and soccer being the top three sports with the highest injury rates.

Sports physicals are commonly required by athletic leagues and schools for good reason. They help identify any potential issues that could hinder your child's participation in a sport. Additionally, healthcare providers can identify areas of vulnerability and offer advice and exercises to prevent future problems.

During a sports physical, physicians will assess your athlete's vital signs, joints, flexibility, vision, and overall fitness. They will diagnose any potential limitations on physical activity and provide recommendations accordingly.

When visiting Vital Urgent Care for a physical, it is not necessary to bring a vaccination record. However, please note that some states require an immunization record before your child can participate in a new sport.

We will check your child's pulse, blood pressure, weight, and height to ensure their vitals are within the proper range. Additionally, an eye exam will be conducted to assess their vision and determine if any prescription lenses or adjustments are needed. A thorough examination of the cardiovascular system, abdomen, ears, nose, and throat will take place to evaluate your child's overall health and identify any potential limitations on physical activity.

By assessing your child's strength, flexibility, posture, and joints, we can identify areas that may be prone to injury and offer exercises and tips to promote a healthier body. A comprehensive review of their medical history will also be conducted, as it is crucial for diagnosing problems and preventing complications in the future.

Please note that the sports, camp, and school physicals offered by Vital Urgent Care do not include additional ancillary services or tests that may be required. These services are available for ages 6 and up, with some restrictions applying. Price and availability are subject to change. Please be aware that school physicals are not available in Arkansas or Virginia if an immunization history is required as part of the physical examination.
